The Scholarship for American Federation of Police
The Scholarship for American Federation of Police and the Concerned Citizens or AFP & CC honors in the memory of those personals killed while on duty both as parents and officers. This is being done to assist the children of those police personals in order to attain their college education. Doing so, they can provide an immense impact on the young children’s life and future. Luckily, this is not every thing these police officers leave behind. Most of the killed police officers leave behind their daughters and sons whose lives get completely changed after a tragic incident of losing their parents.
Every year, the American Federation of Police and the Concerned Citizens finance through the special program of Police Family Survivors Fund. They award several scholarships to those surviving children who have one or both their parents killed on duty with an amount of 1,500 every year. This special nationwide funding program provides a financial assistance to the surviving children to attain their higher education. These children get a chance to complete their graduation by attending four year college, or university or vocational institution. For this they also receive 6,000 dollars as scholarships per student for four years.
So, with this type of financial assistance all the surviving children of those police officers who lost their life while on duty can fulfill their dreams. Actually, the life of law enforcement officer or a police officer is quiet risky. On an average, a single police officer gets killed while on duty every 57 hours. At times, this police officer is the sole and primary provider for his or her family. And, with his or her demise the surviving children have to face several uphill tasks. In order to assist these children secure their life and future these scholarships are being offered every year.
The American Federation of Police and the Concerned Citizens Scholarship provides these children a financial support. With this kind of financial support these children can live their lives realizing their pledge to protect and serve their own society. Through these charitable offers like the Police Family Survivors Fund, American Federation of Police and the Concerned Citizens provide more than 1.5 million dollars as scholarships. This scholarship program was started in the year 1994 and since then AFP & CC has maintained a strict policy to never turn anyone away.
As the educational costs and even its importance increasing day by day, AFP & CC desires to enhance the impact of its funding program by doubling the scholarship amount provided as financial aid to every surviving children of ex-police officers. In order to make these children achieve their goal and serve their own country, AFP & CC relies heavily on donations from various organizations, generous individuals and foundations. These organizations try and understand the significance of honoring the killed police officers by financially supporting the life and future of their families they have left behind. So, all you surviving children do not lose hope because you can still make your dream come true and honor your parents by serving your country in whatever way you can.
